New photos released of 56m (184ft) explorer yacht ‘Blue II’ have shown a marrying of retro elegance with state-of-the-art technology in the only motor yacht designed by Hoek Design.
The yacht showcases the versatility of Turkish builder Turquoise Yachts, with Blue II’s classic steamer look marking an engaging departure from its usual contemporary style, characterized by superyachts like the 76.75m (252ft) GO and the 72.64m (238ft) ‘Quantum of Solace’.
She is also notable for a first-ever step into the world of motor yachts for Dutch design studio Hoek Design, who has previously worked exclusively on sailing yachts. A nod toward’s Hoek’s sailing heritage can clearly be seen in her horiziontal lines and rounded canoe stern.
However, beneath the retro-style chic is a serious explorer yacht designated ice-class and with the capability to explore polar regions.
The new images released showcase her outdoor orientated design, with plenty of deck space for dining and lounging and her beautifully upholstered open-plan interior courtesy of London-based Vickers Studio and Amsterdam-based Dols and Company Interiors.
Other highlights include a large cinema lounge, an extensive collection of water toys and an extensive Wellness Center complete with a sauna, steam room, massage table and Turkish bath.
Blue II sleeps 12 guests across six cabins, including two master cabins and has a range of 6,500nm at 11 knots. Delivered in August 2020, she is currently available for charter in the Mediterranean.

Established in 1997 and based out of headquarters in Istanbul, Turquoise has since built and delivered over 20 superyachts. With an average length of 52.1m (171ft) across its projects, it has established a reputation for building yachts that are as large as they are luxurious.
For Hoek Design, Blue II is the first motor yacht it has worked on in almost 40 deliveries since 1993. It doesn’t quite take the accolade of being its largest-ever design, falling just behind the 62m (203.5ft) sailing yacht ATHOS delivered in 2010.
Blue II exemplifies all the qualities of an expedition yacht with long-range, ocean going capabilities and highly functional deck areas. If you are interested in buying a similar yacht you can view all explorer yachts for sale.
