VIDEO: 140m superyacht SOLARIS seen for the first time

The Lloyd Werft built superyacht has been seen by yacht spotters in Germany.

One of the world’s largest in-build superyachts has been caught on camera for the first time.

Lloyd Weft’s 140m (459ft) SOLARIS was spotted being readied for her imminent launch at its Bremerhaven-based facilities, indicating she might be just months away from handover.

The build is still shrouded in secrecy, it is estimated SOLARIS will be between 139m and 145m long

Much of the detail around the expedition yacht is still shrouded in secrecy, with even her actual length still a mystery. Estimates are she will be somewhere between 139m (456ft) and 145m (476ft). What is almost certain is that when SOLARIS is completed she will take her place in the world’s Top 20 yachts by length.

We also know that she will feature teak decks over eight levels and huge socialising areas, as well as a large helipad, expansive beach club and spacious sun deck.

Predominantly known for building cruise ships, Lloyd Werft were also responsible for building 115m (377ft) LUNA in 2010. There is speculation that SOLARIS could be its final yacht project. German media has been reporting Lloyd Werft may close its doors at the end of the year due to a downturn in business caused by the effect of the Coronavirus pandemic on the cruise-ship market.
