Scandinavian builder Windy Boats has unveiled its new flagship model, the 18m (60ft) SLR60/SR60.
As is suggested by the name there are two versions of the model. The SR version offers spacious accommodation for four guests and open living areas, whereas the SLR is for Owner’s who might want to venture further afield, it can travel up to 850nm at 25 knots. Either version can be used as a chase boat, a standalone sportsboat or a tender.
The new model is a second collaboration between Windy and Malcolm McKeon who designed the custom-built SR52 Blackbird, which has been rated the best chase boat in the world.
“Malcolm was intrinsic to the design of SR52 Blackbird, and we are incredibly excited to be working with him again on our larger SR Project,” said Trevor Fenlon, CEO of Windy Scandinavia.
The elegant interiors come from Liaigre, who have developed what Windy describe as “high-spec communal spaces, interior design and a high-quality finish”.
Key features of the SLR60/SR60 are a large swim platform for a vessel of this size, an expansive foredeck with a sunpad and lots of storage space and refined teak decking throughout. Elsewhere the hull and deck benefit from vacuum-infused vinylester with carbon fibre strengthening and triple Volvo IPS 650 engines give a top speed of 44 knots.
Whilst the first SLR60/SR60 is set to be delivered in October the yard has further plans for the range with several new versions in the pipeline.
“We will shortly be launching three new SR Outboard Models to maintain our position at the forefront of innovation and technology on the water” confirmed Trevor Fenlon.
The SLR60/SR60 takes the mantle from the 16m (52ft) SR52 as Windy’s largest yacht yet. The builder, established in 1966, has become renowned for producing high-quality sportsboats, hardtop sports yachts and superyacht tenders with a focus on sharp styling and fast sea-going performance.
