Delivered in 2019, Flying Fox is a multi-award winning 136m (446ft) motor yacht built by German shipyard Lurssen. The exterior design is by Espen Øino and the interior styling is by Mark Berryman Design.

Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminum superstructure she features a 22.5m (73.8ft) beam and a 5.1m (16.7ft) draft. The yacht is built over six decks with an internal volume of 9,022 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates two helipads.
The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards and was delivered to her owners in March 2019.
Exterior Design
Flying Fox's exterior features a combination of elegant lines and bold proportions. The yacht's six decks are tastefully layered, providing a streamlined profile that exudes a sense of power and sophistication. The use of glass as a key design element is evident throughout the yacht's exterior, creating a visual connection between the interior and the surrounding seascape.
One of the most striking features of Flying Fox's exterior is its dual helipads, located on the sundeck aft and the foredeck on the bridge deck. The sundeck aft helipad boasts an 18m (59ft) D-value, capable of accommodating some of the world's largest helicopters, including an Airbus H175. The foredeck helipad on the bridge deck, on the other hand, has a 14m (45.9ft) D-value.
The yacht's expansive exterior decks have been meticulously designed to provide a variety of leisure options for guests. The 22.5m (73.8ft) wide bathing platform serves as a grand entry to the yacht's 400sq/m (4,305sq/ft) spa.
The upper deck, meanwhile, offers a more intimate outdoor space featuring a juice bar, outdoor cinema area, and a fire pit. For those seeking a more secluded space, the yacht's roof deck provides stunning views out to sea and down to the main deck, ensuring a sense of privacy and tranquility.
Interior Design
The yacht's interior is characterized by heated limestone floors and louvred oak paneling, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The interior decor is clean-lined contemporary with Japanese influences. A restrained palette of golden oak, caramel bamboo, brushed limestone, travertine marble, and cream leather creates a calming ambiance. Rattan and coconut shell embellishments add a touch of the exotic.
Notable features like the real-wood fireplaces and greenery add residential comfort to the yacht. The irrigation system for the plants is computer-controlled, and specialized lighting systems provide the correct amount of UV without bleaching the materials.
The yacht features a cinema with D-Box seating for the latest blockbusters, a testament to the yacht's commitment to entertainment and relaxation.
Accommodation
Each suite on the Flying Fox is incredibly spacious and opens up to a private balcony that offers spectacular views of the surrounding seascape.
The owner's suite is a showpiece of the yacht's luxurious accommodation. Spanning 105 square meters, the suite includes a 48-square-meter bathroom with an oval tub and a large shower, placed outboard for spectacular views. The cabin itself is tastefully designed, with a bed placed to port and a cozy sitting room to starboard, complete with an ethanol fireplace. The suite also features a beauty room, twin dressing rooms, and a private terrace with a spa pool, sun pads, and seating. An office and a meeting room are conveniently located adjacent to the suite.
The guest suites, all uniformly massive, are to accommodate 22 guests overnight and are located forward of the gym, allowing guests to step straight from their beds for a morning workout or swim. The VIP Suites are designed with an outdoor-oriented concept, with sliding panels that can divide the side decks into various configurations, creating broad fixed balconies for each cabin. All ten guest suites are charmingly named after sea life: Clownfish and Lobster suites are the largest doubles enjoying 47sq/m of space, followed by Turlle at 45.5sq/m. The three convertible twin cabins, Sea Horse, Starfish, and Octopus, provide flexibility in cabin arrangements to suit all group dynamics. The owner's suite is called Shell, their studio Knot and the office is Angle Fish.
Flying Fox also caters to its crew with dedicated accommodation and facilities. The yacht can comfortably accommodate a crew of 55, with a second galley and four chefs on board to ensure the smooth operation of all services. Every detail has been meticulously designed to create a supportive work environment for the crew, ensuring the highest level of service for all guests on board.
Performance & Capabilities
Housing twin MTU engines, the yacht boasts an impressive speed, ensuring swift and smooth travel across the seas. With an impressive range, it allows for extended voyages, opening up a world of limitless possibilities for exploration and adventure.
The yacht is equipped with state-of-the-art stabilizers ensuring the utmost comfort for its passengers. The stabilizers work relentlessly to minimize the yacht's roll motion effect, resulting in a smoother and more enjoyable yachting experience.
The mechanical capabilities of the Flying Fox are not limited to its performance on the water, but extend to its unique features such as the first-ever cryosauna installed on a yacht. This cryosauna, which requires three compressors and three circuits to reach temperatures as low as -110°C, is a testament to the yacht's advanced mechanical and technical capabilities.
The yacht also houses a bespoke heating and cooling system for its vast spa pool, allowing the water to be changed from steaming to icy in about ten minutes. This is made possible thanks to dual hot and cold water storage tanks, showcasing the yacht’s exceptional mechanical prowess.
Furthermore, the yacht features a 12-meter pool with a unique retractable baffle system. This system was engineered after extensive testing and is designed to break up the volume of water, preventing it from building up momentum when the yacht is in motion. This feature, along with the pool's height-adjustable floor, is a testament to the innovative engineering solutions incorporated into the Flying Fox's design.
The yacht also houses a sizable tender garage that is equipped to meet regulations for fueling the tenders with petrol. It has been prepared to carry a submarine, further demonstrating the yacht's extensive capabilities.
Leisure & Entertainment
Guests have the opportunity to partake in kite surfing, sailing, or powered watersports under the vigilant supervision of the Water Sports Team. The onboard Dive Instructors provide a comprehensive range of PADI courses, along with specialized courses featuring closed-circuit rebreathers for an unparalleled underwater experience. For seasoned deep-sea enthusiasts, the yacht is equipped with a professional-standard IHC deck decompression chamber, ensuring safety during remote diving expeditions.
The owner's insistence on an aft open-air galley has resulted in a culinary masterpiece. A dedicated team of five chefs adeptly caters to diverse diets and cuisines, crafting each dish freshly and in full view, enhancing the dining experience with a delightful and interactive touch. The galley boasts an impressive array of five distinct ovens—tandoor, pizza, barbecue, and two rotisseries—complemented by two teppanyaki grills, creating a haven for culinary creativity. Adjacent to this, the alfresco dining area, accommodating 24 guests, offers a picturesque setting.
The expansive sundeck effortlessly transitions into a dance floor at night, providing a setting for live music, private dining, and the occasional fireworks, offering an enjoyable atmosphere for onboard gatherings.
Wellness
The main wellness attraction is the vast 400m2 spa pool, the largest transverse pool on any yacht at the time of her build, and one that has a retractable wall that can divide the water in two. The division can provide the guests with a choice of salt or fresh water and the temperatures can change rapidly to serve as a plunge pool post sauna or hammam sessions. Adjacent to this is the first-ever cryo sauna installed on a yacht, offering a unique wellness experience for guests.
The two-decked wellness center is accessed through a 'sea lobby' with heated limestone floors and louvered oak paneling that provides a warm welcome to the spa and beauty center and massage rooms equipped for sauna, hammam, jacuzzi, and relaxation, even including specialist treatments with high-tech equipment for body shaping and electrical facials.
The gym is fully equipped with a Smith machine, exercise bike, Bosu abdominal leg raise machine, chest press, treadmill, and a variety of other features to accommodate diverse fitness needs. The sports, gym and diving instructors are either former Olympic athletes or ex-British military who offer tailored programs in strength and conditioning, mindfulness (including yoga), and endurance through boot-camp-style circuits and insanity circuit sessions. Whether a guest is aiming for strength, flexibility, or cardiovascular fitness, the Flying Fox gym and specialist instructors provide a comprehensive fitness experience.
To provide guests with a taste of land-based nature, the onboard experience includes 6m (20ft) irrigated trees, allowing for a unique and refreshing escape amidst the maritime setting.
Amenities
For transfer convenience, the yacht features two helipads. The 18m (60ft) helipad at the stern was designed as the primary landing area for the owner's H175 Airbus helicopter with a passenger capacity of 12 guests. A second helipad is on the bow (14.9m/49ft).
