Delivered in 1992, Gaudeamus II is a 46.3m motor yacht built by German shipyard Lurssen. She features exterior design by Gerhard Gilgenast and interior styling by Silvestrin Design.

Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9.6m beam and a 4.6m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 488 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Exterior Design
The exterior design of Gaudeamus II features a raked bow that provides both aesthetic appeal and functional benefits, improving the vessel's handling in various sea conditions. The deck is crafted from teak, known for its durability and resistance to harsh marine environments. The hull and superstructure are painted white, creating a uniform and clean appearance. Below the waterline, the hull is painted black, matching the black boot top, which adds a sharp contrast to the overall look.
Guest access to the yacht is well-thought-out, with options to arrive via a passerelle to the after deck or a starboard-side gangway opposite the main-deck lobby. The bridge, designed with functionality in mind, features a central control position surrounded by banks of instruments, all painted in a pigeon-blue finish by 3M Company, Nextel, which is non-reflective and soft to the touch. The bridge also includes cleverly-designed wings, allowing the watch officer to have a full view along either side of the yacht.
The upper deck, reserved for the owner's suite, includes a large outdoor area with cushioned seats lining the aft rail and a big outdoor table with cane chairs. The absence of boats on this deck provides ample space for leisure activities. The sundeck above offers a cushioned area, a bar-servery, and forward-facing seats behind a windscreen, making it a practical spot for relaxation and observation while underway.
Interior Design
Upon entering the main deck, guests are greeted by a wide-open and airy lobby. The walls are finished in white lacquer, complemented by an ivory wool carpet. A cherry-wood plinth at floor level adds a subtle touch of warmth. The main stairway, adorned with modern abstract paintings, features open railings with stainless steel stanchions and a timber handrail, providing a nautical yet refined feel.
The main saloon and formal dining room occupy the aft part of the main deck. These spaces are separated by a half-height divider, allowing for both interaction and privacy. The saloon is designed with a central U-shaped seating arrangement, consisting of three large white leather sofas surrounding a low glass-topped table. This configuration facilitates conversation and social interaction. The dining room features a ten-seat oval table with cognac leather tub chairs, maintaining a consistent design theme with satin-finished cherry woodwork and ivory wool carpet.
The bridge of Gaudeamus II features banks of instruments grouped around the central control position, all painted in a pigeon-blue finish by the 3M Company, Nextel. This finish has a soft, velvet-like texture that prevents reflections. A raised settee behind the helm allows guests to observe the navigation process. Additionally, the bridge includes cleverly-designed wings that provide a clear view along either side of the vessel. A compact communications room is situated behind a partition to port, ensuring that the watch officer has all necessary facilities within reach.
One of the standout features on the main deck is the library, located right forward. This oval-shaped room has windows along the forward side and a large skylight above, creating a bright and welcoming environment. Furnished with a large settee, bookcases, a table, easy chairs, and a large TV, the library offers a comfortable space for relaxation and entertainment.
The upper deck includes an owner's suite with a sitting room/study that features a comfortable settee, desk, bookcase, and a TV and music center. A private door from the owner's suite leads to the upper deck, which offers a large outdoor table with cane chairs and cushioned seats lining the aft rail. This area is ideal for outdoor dining and socializing.
Accommodation
Gaudeamus II offers a well-thought-out accommodation plan designed to cater to both the owner's privacy and guest comfort. The yacht can host an optimal number of guests, ensuring ample space and exclusivity.
The upper deck is dedicated to the owner's suite, providing a private and expansive living area. This suite includes a sitting room/study, bedroom, bathroom, and dressing room. The bedroom and lounge can be combined into one large space across the width of the yacht using a double-width sliding door.
The suite features cherry paneling with a high gloss finish and a royal blue silk carpet. The bathroom is spacious, equipped with a spa bath, separate shower, and toilet. Large windows and lowered bulwarks offer exceptional views, even from the bed, with roller blinds controlled by switches at the bedside. The sitting room is furnished with a comfortable settee, desk, bookcase, and a TV and music center. A private door leads to the upper deck, ideal for outdoor dining and relaxation.
The lower deck houses four guest staterooms, which are accessible from a bright, modern lobby. There are two double cabins and two twin cabins, each with ample space, easy chairs, desks, and large bathrooms featuring both tubs and showers. These individually designed suites provide a comfortable and luxurious environment for guests.
Apart from the captain, whose cabin is on the main deck, the crew quarters are located forward on the lower deck. These quarters include their own galley, mess-room, and laundry facilities. There are three double cabins and two single cabins for the crew. Additionally, the crew has a designated seating area on the fore-deck for relaxation during rest periods.
Performance & Capabilities
Motor yacht Gaudeamus II is capable of reaching a top speed of 15 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. With her 101,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 8,061 nautical miles at 13 knots.

Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Crowning the yacht is a spacious sundeck with an inviting spread of sunpads and deck jacuzzi which provides excellent views.
