Almost five years after being announced in December 2015, Lurssen superyacht NORD (formerly ‘Project Opus’) has been delivered to her Owner, following her official launch in July. At 142m, the megayacht is one of the world's biggest yachts.
The gigantic custom superyacht completed sea trials over the autumn and features immaculate design from Italian studio Nuvolari & Lenard, who also penned the Lurssen superyacht QUATTROELLE (2013).
NORD is built to PYC and can accommodate up to 36 guests in her twenty cabins, spread across six decks. The 9,250 GRT superyacht has a steel displacement hull with a sleek profile and a pronounced helipad on the foredeck.
A second helipad is on the bridge deck aft, which has fold-down side platforms to protect the helicopter from the elements. When not in use, the helicopter can be neatly stored in a retractable hangar, part of the aluminium superstructure.
Inspired by automotive design, she’s the first yacht to have her name on her bow – similar to the badge on a car’s grille.
Other magnificent features onboard include a large diving and sports centre on the lower deck, a huge main deck swimming pool and a garage for a fleet of tenders up to 15m (49ft) long. An expansive upper deck offers plenty of seating and dining space aft, while, above, there is a jacuzzi and some impressively roomy sunbathing space.
World's Largest Yachts
At 142m (466ft), superyacht NORD is the fifth Lurssen vessel to enter the top ten of the world’s Top 100 longest yachts, joining the likes of the 180m (590.5ft) superyacht AZZAM and 156m (512ft) superyacht DILBAR.
NORD was first seen on the water in October 2018 and dubbed ‘Project Opus’ the following year. She is among the world's biggest yachts to be handed over in 2020, as well as the third Lurssen to be delivered this year, after the 140m (459ft) SCHEHERAZADE and 87m (285ft) AVANTAGE.
