Design & Construction
Designed around a fast displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 16.6m beam and a 4.8m draft. The yacht is built over 6 decks with an internal volume of 3,643 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.
Construction started in late 1999 with the keel laid under the project name 'Fabergé'. Launched in November 2000 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in July 2002.
Exterior Design
Designer Tim Heywood employed ingenious visual techniques to achieve the striking profile of Carinthia VII, notably making the main deck appear windowless when viewed from a distance. The darkened glass and black frames, set back into what seems like a continuous hull side, become noticeable only upon closer inspection. The deep blue hue of the hull contributes to this trompe l’oeil effect.
Aiming for a sleek and uncluttered profile, Heywood replaced traditional stanchions and handrails with glass bulwarks set in slim steel frames that blend seamlessly. Even essential technical features like the bridge wings and air intakes were artfully integrated, forming smoothly molded bulges in the superstructure with an almost feminine character.
While retaining echoes of the earlier Carinthia, such as the forward lean of the transom mirroring the outline of the stem, Heywood added a Bannenberg touch with a stylish line along the aft part of the topsides at the main deck level, created by a large radius molding. The forward-facing windows in the superstructure are shaded by a characteristic brow resembling the peak of a cap.
In the refit, the blue paint transformed to a richer shade now known as Majestic Blue. The superstructure received a fresh coat of Matterhorn White, and the external deck walls were elegantly adorned with Shark Grey.
Interior Design
For the initial two decades of her maritime journey, the interiors of Carinthia VII remained veiled in secrecy at the request of her original owner, Austrian supermarket heiress Heidi Horten. However, with her sale in 2022 and a subsequent comprehensive refit, the yacht was readied for charter and provided the public with a more accessible glimpse into its interior styling.
Original elements, like the woven parquet flooring and mahogany joinery, were thoughtfully preserved. The mahogany joinery, initially glossy, boasts a new matte finish. The owner's suite on the upper deck maintained its original pear wood joinery, with updates to enhance the space, including a redesigned bathroom. The expansive office at the suite's entrance reflects the new owner's passion for art.
The main staircase with its curvaceous walls features an elegant ombré pattern of blue leather tiles, transitioning from darker tones at the bottom to lighter hues at the top, evoking the feeling of slowly descending into the sea. Artisan-sourced upholstery from Venice adorns the corridors, replacing previously painted panels.
Carinthia VII also features an indoor cinema and a gaming area, providing entertainment options for guests of all ages. The cinema is equipped with high-definition screens and surround sound, offering a comfortable and immersive viewing experience.
Accommodation
Carinthia VII offers accommodation for up to 14 guests in eight suites. Six guest suites are situated on the forward main deck, two with double beds, two with single beds, and two bow cabins that can be converted into children's playrooms. The upper deck is dedicated to the owner's use, including an aft outdoor deck with a teppanyaki round bar. To port, a spacious VIP suite features an entire window side flooding the space with natural light.
The yacht carries a crew of 37 onboard to ensure full guest service.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by 4 x diesel MTU (20V 1163 TB93) 20-cylinder 10,060hp engines running at 1350rpm, motor yacht Carinthia VII is capable of reaching a top speed of 26 knots, and comfortably cruises at 22 knots. With her 456,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 10,000 nautical miles at an economic speed of 15 knots. She has been fitted with stabilizers to increase on-board comfort when the yacht is at anchor, particularly in rough waters.

The yacht includes a lower-deck wellness sanctuary, providing a tranquil spa experience with direct access to the sea through a side terrace. The inviting spa boasts a cool, relaxing atmosphere and features amenities such as a hammam, a beauty salon with a nail bar and retractable hairdressing area, and a massage bed – all designed to create a serene setting for guests to rejuvenate. The original ornate mosaic of the steam room was meticulously preserved in the refit.
