Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement ice class steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 13.5m beam and a 3.8m draft. The yacht is built over 4 decks with an internal volume of 2,205 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in mid 2007 with the keel laid under the project name 'Scout'. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

The exterior design of Huntress was orchestrated by Espen Øino, who created an aesthetic that reflects the owner's desire for a sturdy, seagoing ship. The hull, which was revised above the waterline, and the superstructure, were specifically designed to retain the wide side decks and the forward-sloping 'trawler' windows. This design feature not only gives the superstructure a purposeful look but also serves practical purposes, such as keeping off the sun and rain and reducing reflections at night.

The yacht's exterior is characterized by open deck spaces spread over five areas, providing an abundance of outdoor enjoyment options. Among these is an inviting sitting space in front of the owner's suite. The bridge deck aft is expansive and incorporates a touch-and-go helipad, which can be quickly prepared for use by removing and stowing away the handrails and the carbon-fiber poles that support the sun awnings.

Huntress boasts two pools, a spa pool on the sun deck and a larger oval one on the bridge deck. The water for these pools is stored in an insulated tank below deck, allowing for quick filling with ready-warmed water.

The yacht’s exterior design also takes into consideration its ability to operate in light sea ice, with increased framing and thicker hull plating in the forward area. Even elements such as the shafts, propellers, rudders, and stabilizers have been strengthened to cope with these challenging conditions.

In addition, the yacht is designed with a sophisticated bow thruster setup linked to the dynamic positioning system, which proves invaluable over coral reefs or in icy conditions when anchoring is not an option.

Its superior engine specifications, speed, range, and innovative features like stabilizers and thrusters, all combine to offer an unmatched yachting experience.

Interior Design

Upon entering the main deck saloon, you are greeted by the warm glow of burgundy leather sofas and soft-colored fabric armchairs. The space is accented with real log fires in both principal rooms, contributing to the homely, inviting ambiance. Much of the furniture aboard the Huntress is antique or high-quality reproduction, further enhancing the classic aesthetic.

The dining room, a surprising feature located in the space usually occupied by the main saloon, is strikingly versatile. Its 14-place table can be reduced in size or completely packed away, creating a large open space for parties or dancing. Furthermore, when the double doors to the saloon are folded back, guests can enjoy an expansive space for socializing.

The upper saloon echoes the themes of comfort and elegance found throughout the yacht. It features a remarkable glass table that creates the illusion of looking down through water to the seabed, a nod to the yacht's nautical purpose. The saloon is generously lit from deep windows on either side, with an unobtrusive bar to one side.

Throughout the Huntress, hand-painted panels and furniture by Angel Studios from London add a touch of bespoke luxury. Quirky antiques, such as the yak cupboard in the upper saloon, demonstrate the owner's appreciation for unique, crafted pieces.

The guest corridor serves as an excellent gallery for the owner's collection of Inuit art, beautifully illuminated under lighting designed by Sally Story of Lighting Design International. This careful curation contributes to the overall aesthetic of the Huntress, blending contemporary art with timeless design.

Accommodation

Huntress is designed to accommodate 12 guests and 24 crew members, offering ample space and luxurious comfort for all.

The sleeping quarters of the Huntress are designed with an emphasis on natural light and spaciousness. The guest cabins are placed on the main deck, each boasting large windows that offer a beautiful view of the surroundings. Each cabin is meticulously designed to provide a comfortable and relaxing environment for the guests.

The owner's suite on the upper deck is a marvel in itself, offering a panoramic view of the horizon through its expansive windows. The suite is designed to let in abundant natural light, creating an atmosphere of openness and tranquillity. This thoughtful design element extends even to the crew areas, which feature larger windows than one would normally find in guest cabins.

The Huntress is equipped to accommodate a crew of 24, ensuring that the vessel is maintained at the highest standards and that every need of the guests is catered to. The crew accommodations are just as well-designed and comfortable as the guest cabins, reflecting the attention to detail and high standards that characterize the Huntress.
