CRN: Launch of 62m Superyacht RIO

The yard, which is part of the Ferretti Group, launched the superyacht a day after announcing her sale.

Italian builder CRN has revealed it has launched its 62m (203.4ft) superyacht RIO at the Ferretti Group’s yard in Ancona.

CRN describes the 1,180 GT motor yacht as “entirely bespoke,” with flowing hull lines and a near-vertical bow that first touched the water during a private ceremony over the weekend. The steel and aluminum yacht was originally known as Project C138 and was announced in January 2018, however, less than a year later the client withdrew as he decided he wanted to build something bigger. Construction continued and the day before her launch CRN announced superyacht RIO had been sold.

The four-deck yacht was built and designed by CRN in close collaboration with Omega Architects on the exteriors and Pulina Exclusive Interiors for the styling inside. Highlights include a lower deck set up as a wellness retreat, home to a beach club complete with Hammam, a massage room, a chromotherapy shower and fitness area, a “palatial” main saloon, and an Owner’s deck that doubles as a social zone.

RIO can accommodate 12 guests across the owner’s suite and five guest suites. The guest suites are made up of two full-beam VIP cabins, one on the main deck forward, one on the lower deck, and three suites on the lower deck. An elevator connects all decks.

CRN is part of the Ferretti Group and has established a reputation for its sizeable, fully-custom steel and aluminum yachts in 1983 delivering 33m (108ft) F100, which some recognize as the world’s first purpose-built explorer yacht. YachtBuyer intelligence reveals the average length of over 80 yachts it has delivered since 1969 is 45.7m (150ft) with its largest build to date being 80m (262.5ft) superyacht CHOPI CHOPI delivered in 2013.

Alongside RIO it has several other large projects in the pipeline including 72m (236ft) CRN 139 and 67m (220ft) CRN 143 also known as 'Project Maranello' and described as a superyacht with an “eco-friendly soul”.
