Following successful sea trials in June 2024, DRIZZLE, one of the world's biggest yachts, has been delivered to its Spanish owner Amancio Ortega, the founder of ZARA. Following its departure from Feadship's facilities in Amsterdam on June 13, the superyacht headed for its final destination in Malta.
Built from informed requests based on Ortega’s extensive yachting experience, motor yacht DRIZZLE’s design is characterized by chamfered exterior contours and a traditional flared bow, embodying a modern-classic style with naval architecture by Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects. Notably, she is the first Feadship to carry full Hybrid Electric Class notation.
Superyacht DRIZZLE’s propulsion and energy management systems incorporate two main engines and shaft-driven fixed-pitch propellers, complemented by 560kW electric motors and 1MWh of Li-ion batteries. The e-motors function as shaft generators, producing electricity for hotel loads or recharging the batteries, with the generators or batteries providing the necessary electrical power.
The superyacht features Feadship’s signature deep v-cut bow, and an extended explorer-style aft deck with a 165 square meter beach club, a large pool, and fold-out terraces. The sundeck can be used as an observation point with a forward-facing sofa and sun loungers, while the aft deck houses two rescue tenders.
Between the engine room and the beach club is a side-loading garage with room for two 10-meter tenders, a ski boat, and various water toys. Forward is the crew area, comprising the galley, crew mess, and crew accommodation.
