Lady Moura is a 104.85m motor yacht delivered by German shipyard Blohm + Voss in 1990. Her interior design and exterior styling comes from the drawing boards of Luigi Sturchio, while Blohm + Voss is responsible for her naval architecture. She underwent a refit in 2019.

Lady Moura holds the distinction of being the pioneer of all yacht beach clubs and the first yacht with an indoor swimming pool. Constructed in 1990, this groundbreaking vessel maintains a modern aesthetic even after three decades, standing as a remarkable design achievement. Upon delivery, she secured the position as the ninth-largest yacht ever built and the most expensive. From her launch until her sale in 2021, Lady Moura was exclusively enjoyed for private family use.

"Some of the most important shipyards in the world came to visit Lady Moura for ideas, to understand details to replicate.”

Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and a steel/aluminium superstructure she features a 18.5m beam and a 5.4m draft. The yacht is built over 7 decks with an internal volume of 6,539 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.

The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. She was delivered to her owners in November 1990.

Exterior Design

In keeping with her name, Lady Moura emanates an understated elegance that sets her apart in any marina.

Spanning an impressive 105m (344ft) over seven decks, Lady Moura commands attention with her substantial presence. The exterior features sleek, clean lines, presenting a streamlined silhouette, while the gleaming white hull adds a classic touch.

But what sets Lady Moura apart is her innovative design features, many of which were groundbreaking at the time of her launch in 1990. Pioneering elements include hydraulic opening sea terraces, concealed side gangways, and a full-beam lounge on the lower deck. Hidden tenders behind hydraulic doors contribute to the yacht's uncluttered exterior.

The highlight of Lady Moura's exterior design is the top deck, hosting a semi-enclosed, full-beam pool that is safely enclosed within blue-tinted glass and can be shielded from the elements when required. Forward of the pool deck is a vast helideck, which was refurbished with a modern rubber in a neutral tone, replacing the original blue "concrete cement" sole, adding to the yacht's aesthetic appeal.

Lady Moura's exterior design is not just about visual appeal. It is also about creating functional and enjoyable spaces for the guests. For example, the beach club is created when a shell door at the bottom near the waterline is opened, and lounge chairs are set out on dozens of bags of white beach sand. This innovative use of space transformed the yacht's stern into a private beach oasis for guests.

The design of Lady Moura is a masterclass in maritime luxury. Each space has been thoughtfully designed and meticulously crafted, creating an environment that is both inviting and impressive.

Interior Design

Lady Moura's interiors are reflective of the exceptional standards of Blohm + Voss craftsmanship and the emphasis on comfort and luxury is apparent in the captivating interior design by Luigi Sturchio. The main salon, notable for its expansive layout, has rich and welcoming decor and contributes to an atmosphere that balances both comfort and awe.

The formal dining saloon, capable of seating 18 to 24 guests, emanates sophistication. The 18m (59ft) dining table, custom made by Viscount Linley, nephew to Queen Elizabeth II, serves as a centerpiece without compromising the intimate feel, suitable for both family meals and formal gatherings. Over her three decades, Lady Moura has played host to both family cruises and elite political gatherings in her elegant space.

Lady Moura's design includes hidden pantries and passages, allowing discreet and efficient service throughout the yacht. Beyond luxury and aesthetics, functionality and service are integral aspects of Lady Moura's design.

Accommodation

Lady Moura can accommodate up to 27 guests across 13 cabins. Each cabin is a masterpiece, boasting plush furnishings, state-of-the-art technology, and en-suite facilities. A full-beam VIP cabin is larger than many owner's cabins on other yachts and features deep burr wood, smoked mirrors, and an en-suite dressing room.

The master suite is a real showstopper. Occupying the entire aft half of its deck level, the suite features a light main cabin with direct access to a private terrace, a separate cabin, a large dressing room, and a central lobby with a wall of television screens.

Lady Moura is family-oriented within its cabin layout. Five large cabins on the owner's deck are decorated in a lighter style than the rest of the boat and are fully equipped with en-suite dressing rooms and bathrooms. To ensure the comfort of young guests, four of these cabins feature Pullman beds.

In addition to guest accommodation, Lady Moura provides substantial crew quarters. The yacht can comfortably accommodate up to 72 crew members; the cabins are pleasantly spacious, and each includes an en-suite bathroom. The yacht also houses a dedicated hospital area for guest and crew use when required.

Providing for all services as required, the yacht includes staff cabins for hairdressers, beauticians, and private staff, as well as an array of offices. Moreover, the yacht's interiors feature a sophisticated service structure, including separate galleys and laundries for crew and guests and massive storage areas.

Performance & Capabilities

Two robust Deutz engines, each producing 6,868 horsepower, power Lady Moura. These robust engines allow her to achieve a maximum speed of 20 knots and a cruising speed of 17 knots. Not only is she swift, but she also boasts an impressive range of 8,000 nautical miles at her cruising speed, thanks to her substantial fuel capacity of 870,000 liters.

The yacht's draft at full load is 5.4m, and she has a displacement of 7,700 tonnes. Despite her size and weight, Lady Moura has been equipped with mechanical stabilizers to ensure smooth sailing and comfort for her passengers.

Leisure & Entertainment

Lady Moura features a variety of lifestyle spaces. The uppermost deck houses a spectacular pool, complete with a retractable roof, dining and coffee tables, a spa pool, and an outdoor terrace.

The yacht's cinema room features deep-cushioned sofas and classical columns. If cinema night is date night, a hair salon is concealed close to the cinema, next to the lobby.

A striking feature of Lady Moura is her semi-enclosed full-beam pool deck. This was made possible through her increased length, beam, and draft for form stability, and the addition of sufficient mechanical stabilizers. The pool deck is encased within blue-tinted glass and can be protected from the elements when desired. The pool, measuring 4.3m (14ft) by 5.2m (17ft) with a constant depth of 1.5m (4.9ft), can be filled within just 25 minutes with either fresh or saltwater, according to the swimmers' preference.

The yacht can house plenty of nautical toys and accessories, in a well-appointed tender garage. Air conditioning offers increased onboard comfort, while underwater lights create a dazzling light display when the sun goes down. An elevator makes the yacht fully accessible.
