Launched in February 1931 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in July 1931.

Exterior Design

Savarona's exterior design is an exquisite showcase of the craftsmanship and attention to detail that Blohm + Voss is renowned for. The yacht's overall silhouette is an awe-inspiring sight, with a length of 124 meters and six expansive decks. Her elegant white exterior reflects the luxury and status that she represents, while her imposing size provides an undeniable sense of grandeur.

The main deck of the Savarona offers ample space for relaxation and entertainment. The deck is characterized by its broad open spaces, offering magnificent sea views and a perfect setting for al fresco dining or lounging in the sun. The upper deck boasts a swimming and water-sports platform that opens out from the yacht's side, providing a seamless transition from on-board luxury to the thrill of the open water.

One of the most distinctive features of Savarona's exterior is the traditional Turkish coffee house or Majlis, located on the boat deck. This area is beautifully decorated and serves as a wonderful spot to enjoy a cup of Turkish coffee while taking in the panoramic views of the surrounding seascape.

The yacht's original brass fittings, including the 390 brass windows, have been meticulously restored and replaced, adding a touch of vintage glamour to the exterior. Savarona's exterior design is a masterful blend of classic elegance and modern luxury, making her a one-of-a-kind yacht that stands out in any marina.

The yacht Savarona's interior, under the masterful hand of Donald Starkey, is the highest order of craftsmanship in wood, marble, fabric and steel.

Interior Design

The interior of the Savarona exudes an elegant blend of history and modern comfort. The vast public rooms and the extravagant decorations have the luxury of a bygone era.

The main saloon, stretching a full 20 meters fore-and-aft, is an architectural marvel. It is made to look even longer by a glass wall at its forward end that reveals the beauty of the original wrought brass staircase. With its grand piano, card tables, and casual seating, it mirrors the grandeur of an opulent hotel of the 1930s.

Beyond the staircase on the boat deck, you'll find another saloon decorated in the style of a Turkish coffee house, where a traditional brass stove placed on a fine Turkish rug holds the central position. The dining saloon, spacious and majestic, is dominated by two vast red-lacquered sideboards and dotted with 13 tables which can comfortably seat a maximum of 52 guests or can be laid up as a single banqueting table.

Accommodation

The Savarona boasts an impressive accommodation capacity that prioritizes comfort and opulence. As one of the largest private yachts ever built, the Savarona can comfortably host a number of guests in its 17 elegantly designed staterooms.

Each stateroom is not merely a place to rest; it is an elegant retreat that offers a unique blend of comfort, luxury, and style. Every stateroom has its own sitting room and private bathroom, making it a personal sanctuary for guests on board. The rooms are all richly decorated with matching fabrics, well-chosen antiques, and other objets d'art, ensuring each room exudes a unique charm and elegance.

The boat deck houses the 'Owner's Apartment', the outstanding stateroom that served as Emily Cadwalader's personal space. This stateroom boasts a large, stately, book-lined study, a marble-clad bathroom, an owner's dressing room, and a spacious bedroom that occupies the full 8-meter width of the superstructure. With large windows overlooking the boat deck, this suite offers a scenic view of the surrounding waters.

Four more guest suites are located on the shelter deck, just below the owner's apartment. These rooms provide equal comfort and luxury and are decorated in a similar style. The upper deck houses another eight suites in the aft part of the yacht, along with a room for personal staff, ensuring that all guests can enjoy their privacy and comfort during their stay.

In addition to these staterooms, the Savarona also houses the Kemal Ataturk suite, a special suite that has been preserved in its original 1938 style. This suite comprises a library, stateroom, dressing room, and a bathroom. The furniture, including the bed and wardrobes, are the very same as those used by Kemal Ataturk, adding a touch of historical elegance to the room.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3608 DITA) 8-cylinder 1,840hp engines running at 1000rpm, motor yacht Savarona is capable of reaching a top speed of 18 knots, and comfortably cruises at 16 knots.

Leisure & Entertainment

On the lower decks, you will find a gymnasium, a sauna, and a pool room that opens out through the yacht's side to a swimming and water-sports platform. Further below, a vast area carved out of the former engine-room has been transformed into a sizable conference room, making Savarona an ideal yacht for corporate charters.

Wellness

One of the most incredible public spaces on any yacht today is the Hammam, or Turkish bath, based on the design of a famous bath in Istanbul. This 100 square meter marble room exudes total elegance of design and features all the amenities for an authentic Turkish bathing experience.
