A look at the headline debuts of Cannes Yachting Festival 2019

Cannes Yachting Festival has closed its doors once again after another successful six day event.

Showcasing no less than 134 debuts, there was great anticipation throughout the show as shipyards brought their biggest and best vessels to display.

As the inaugural edition for the brand new layout of designated sailing boat and motor boat zones, many shipyards enjoyed extra space at this year's event, evident through the additional craft available for viewings and the hub style which some yards executed along the docks.

With the 42nd edition indulging a more organised platform for individual shipyards, there were many launches and debuts which shone out. However, with so many products being debuted, we've picked a handful of the debuts that deserve recognition.

Arcadia Sherpa XL

Designed in its entirety by Hot Lab from Milan, the Arcardia Sherpa XL certainly made a big impact in Cannes as the follow up vessel to the hugely successful Sherpa model.

Advertising a 30% lower consumption rate than other vessels in her size range, the Sherpa XL has all the apparent characteristics of being an eco-aware craft. Integrated solar panels plus side openings to interiors also influence the green appeal by negating the need for air conditioning.

In addition to the environmentally friendly installations, volume is certainly a key focus for the 24 metre yacht. Featuring a generous skylounge of 35 square metres, plus a full beam main deck master of 22 square metres, space is definitely of the essence giving owners and their guests large open spaces for socialising and entertaining.

Going from the successful debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival, the future looks bright for the Sherpa XL.

Sanlorenzo SD96

A new entry level semi-displacement vessel for the Italian fleet, the SD96 follows on from its predecessor, the SD92.

The voluminous craft spans over three decks with wide stretches of glazing and an abundance of natural light. Interiors from selected designer Patricia Urquiola assist the concept of space with neutral tones and captivating pieces which highlight the ambience of elegance.

Exteriors collaborated with Zuccon International Project certainly give the vessel status, with its striking but timeless aesthetic.

A five-cabin layout comprising of a full beam master on the main deck, plus four ensuite cabins on the lower deck provides ample accommodation for up to 10 guests at any one time. Also on the lower deck is a fully kitted out galley, which encompasses its own private entrance away from the private guest quarters.

Promoting a top speed of 19 knots, the Sanlorenzo SD96 is definitely an entry model to watch.

Azimut S8

As a surprise debut for the Cannes Yachting Festival (CYF), the new Carbon Tech addition to the fleet certainly added a lot of hype and extra attention to the Italian display.

Taking over from the 77S model, the S8 has a striking sporty aesthetic deisgned by long term collaborator Alberto Mancini and complimentary interiors from Francesco Guida.

Boasting a larger volume than usually seen in vessels of this size, the S8 has many innovative features to make the most of the room avaiable, such as a separated galley from the main deck and dual garages for watertoy and tender storage.

A four-cabin layout on the lower deck accommodates up to eight guests at any one time, with the additional space to berth two crew as well.

Powered by a triple Volvo Penta IPS propulsion system, the shipyard are promoting a top speed of 34 knots.

Absolute Navetta 68

The latest extension to the range of trawler vessels, the Navetta 68 from Italian shipyard Absolute made an impressionable debut at this year's event.

Carrying forward some traits taken from previous models in the series, the Navetta 68 also features a new layout which focuses on self sufficiency for multiple days at sea.

Spacious exteriors are adorned by comfortable lounging areas in the cockpit and flybridge, with the innovative additon of a multifunctional hydraulic swim platform, acting as an access point to the sea for guests as well as being a tender launch pad.

As for the new layout, a composition of three guest cabins are located on the lower deck, including a VIP amidships and two twins, but the stand out feature is the master facility. Situated on an intermediary deck between the lower and main deck, this exclusive area of the yacht is dominated by a centrally located berth with a luxurious ensuite featuring a his and hers sink unit plus separate shower cubicle.

The advertised maximum speed for the Navetta 68 is 27 knots.
