Italian yacht builder Azimut has won the "Collaborative Solution between a Builder and its Supply Chain Partner" category, in partnership with Volvo Penta at the Boat Builder Awards 2024. The award was granted for the technology developed by the duo for the first hybrid-electric Volvo Penta IPS Drive on the new Azimut Seadeck 7.
This pioneering hybrid-electric solution developed alongside Volvo Penta enables the new yacht to operate in a fully electric mode at speeds up to 11 knots, seamlessly transitioning between electric and thermal engines, eliminating the need for an onboard generator.
The Hybrid Boost feature enhances acceleration, while its energy recovery system supports regeneration during cruising, complemented by a fast charging mode that swiftly recharges batteries using thermal engines. When anchored, the onboard batteries sustain all services for up to 12 hours. The system also facilitates entry into zero-emission zones.
With this advanced hybrid-electric system and cutting-edge naval architecture, the Azimut Seadeck 7 enables owners to reduce emissions by up to 40%, marking a significant advancement in eco-friendly yachting solutions and lowering fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
