Feadship’s 88m superyacht ‘Project 816’ hits the water

The launch of Project 816 caps a busy year for the Dutch builder. She is expected to be officially named and delivered early in 2021.

Feadship’s latest 88m (290ft) superyacht ‘Project 816’ was captured on camera as she became the first full build design to emerge from its new Amsterdam construction hall. Project 816 entered the new facilities in May 2019, shortly before they were opened by Queen Maxima of the Netherlands. Yacht spotters caught a glimpse of her this weekend as she left for sea trials.

Sporting an elegant exterior design by Feadship’s own Studio De Voogt and interiors by Italian-based Nauta Design and FM Architettura, Project 816 offers accommodation for 16 guests across eight cabins, as well as space for 25 crew members on board.

After sea trials in the North Sea, Project 816 will be officially named and delivered early in 2021.

A true world-leader in superyacht design and construction, Feadship has delivered 218 yachts since its inception in 1949 with an average length of 49.7m (163ft). Although this doesn’t account for the gradual increase in the size of production over time of the 83 superyachts they have delivered since 2000, 26 have been over 70m (230ft) in length.

World's Biggest Yachts

At her launch Project 816 will join the ranks of the world's biggest yachts but will just miss out on a place in the Top 100.

This launch caps a busy year for the Dutch yard during which they have delivered three 70m (230ft) plus yachts. The largest 99.95m (328ft) motor yacht MOONRISE, is the third-longest of the 218 yachts Feadship has built, only 110m (361ft) motor yacht ANNA and 101.5m (333ft) motor yacht SYMPHONY are longer and have entered the new more accurate YachtBuyer YB100 Largest yachts by GT table because of their large internal volumes.

Feadship shows no sign of slowing down in 2021 either with nine more superyachts set to be delivered, whilst 2022 is scheduled to see the delivery of Project 1010 which, at 118m (387ft), is set to be the largest Dutch-built yacht ever.
