Sanlorenzo has revealed its new superyacht model, the 44m (144ft) X-SPACE line, which it claims combines the capabilities of an explorer yacht with the tradition of a classic navetta.
The 495GT yacht features exteriors by Studio Zuccon and interiors by Piero Lissoni which place a strong focus on transparency, with Piero Lissoni calling it “a boat made almost entirely of glass”.
"The X-SPACE has been forced to become a boat almost entirely made of glass: there are large panes of glass, large windows and some of the cabins no longer even have portholes but glass walls” he explains. “The interior has forced its hand on the exterior and the exterior has been so elastic and so well designed that the interior has almost adapted itself in a totally natural way. I think this is the most innovative language I've seen on a superyacht to date and it has made it possible to create a compact boat but with extraordinary proportions and the unique quality of Sanlorenzo."
Described by Sanlorenzo as “A perfect synthesis of functionality and design”, highlights of X-SPACE include a large terrace with an 18 square-meter swimming pool directly overlooking the sea and an open-air living room with folding balconies that add an extra 18 square meters to its volume.
Elsewhere a different take on the normal layout brings the wheelhouse onto the Bridge Deck and frees up the Upper Deck for the exclusive use of the Owner, giving them their own space with maximum privacy. This includes a study, living room, large cabin and a private deck at the bow with a 30 square meter sunbed area with a swimming pool.
Bernard Zuccon of Studio Zuccon expands on the exterior design:"I think it has never been so important as it has in this project to seek to identify with the owner, who will be the great commander of this boat, hence the desire to create an entire deck dedicated to their needs” he says. “This is a solution that is normally found on larger boats and it shows that this is a yacht where the owner will have the great luxury of being able to spend a lot of time on board.”
The first model from the new X-SPACE line is set to be delivered in 2023. It will add to Sanlorenzo’s already impressive fleet which has seen over 250 yachts delivered in the last decade alone, with more than 50 more in the order book and set for delivery over the next three years.
