Sanlorenzo has closed off an impressive summer with the sale of the third and fourth hulls of its 57Steel and the launch of its second 62Steel.
This comes just a few weeks after the Italian yard announced it had sold eight superyachts between 44m and 57m (144ft and 187ft) from May to August.
The new linear but high-volume designs seen on the 57 and 62 Steel have proved popular since Sanlorenzo announced them earlier this year, with construction of the first 57 starting back in April.
The 56.7m (186ft) superyacht spreads its 1,050GT over five decks and reworks traditional design cues by moving the wheelhouse area up and away from its normal spot forward of the upper deck, leaving the upper deck free to be used in a different way.
The result is a large Owner’s deck with a 54 square meter (581 sq. ft) Owner’s cabin offering exclusive sea views. It also has left space for a full-beam VIP cabin at the bow of the main deck, which can serve as a second Owner’s cabin. Elsewhere there is a 110 square meter (1,184 sq. ft) beach area, created by opening hatches on three sides and a tender garage capable of housing tenders up to 7.5m (24.6ft) in length.
The third unit of the 57Steel demonstrates the versatility of the model, as it will be equipped with a new generation diesel-electric propulsion system, reducing its ecological footprint and increasing its energy efficiency.
Bernard Zuccon, who worked with Sanlorenzo on the external design of the 57Steel acknowledges the adaptability of the design: “The versatility of use that distinguishes the spaces on board is a key element of the 57Steel” he says. “It makes it possible to satisfy the many requests of a heterogeneous and multicultural market like that of superyachts. A model in which there is no ostentation of the brand and whose external lines have a defined and extremely fluid, transparent and clear trend in which the language of the shipyard shines through. We can define 57 Steel as a skillful balancing act between content and container".
The yard has also launched its second 62Steel, following in the footsteps of its inaugural model, ‘Cloud 9’ which was delivered to its Owner in April and is currently on display at the Monaco Yacht Show.
Its many highlights include a 215 square meter (2,314 sq. ft) owner’s suite, linked to an outdoor area in the bow offering another 140 square meters (1,507 sq. ft) of space, a large beach club lit by the transparent base of the swimming pool aft of the main deck and two large tender garages.
Sanlorenzo’s flagship Steel line is a series of yachts with displacement hulls, long-distance cruising and vast Owner’s quarters. With 27 yachts already delivered this year and another 21 in the order book, the Ligurian-Tuscan yard remains one of the busiest in the world.
