CDM delivers MAVERICK: Shipyard's first Flexplorer 146

Cantiere delle Marche's latest explorer yacht sets course for the Northwest Passage.

Italian shipyard Cantiere delle Marche (CDM) has successfully handed over 44.3m (145.3ft) MAVERICK to its new German owner, marking a significant achievement for the company.

The first of three Flexplorer 146 yachts, MAVERICK is currently on its maiden voyage in the Mediterranean, hosting the owner and their family before embarking on an extensive journey to Northern latitudes to traverse the Northwest Passage.

Designed as an explorer, the vessel boasts a robust displacement hull and an exterior designed by Hydro Tec, while the interior is a collaborative effort between Francesco Paszkowski and Margherita Casprini.

Built for adventure, the Flexplorer 146 features functionality-focused amenities, including a custom-built carbon-fiber A-frame crane with a lifting capacity of 4.4 tons, facilitating the storage and launch of a 9.5m (31ft) Rivellini tender and an A27 sailing boat. For added durability, the hull is fortified with a 22mm "ice belt" above and below the waterline for safe navigation in extreme regions.

A large infinity pool is situated on the aft deck, which can be covered and used as storage for deck furniture while underway. Moreover, collapsible bulwarks on either side of the deck transform the space into a vast outdoor beach club spanning over 135 square meters when at anchor.

Additional onboard facilities include a gym, sauna, and diving center, with further provisions for a rescue boat and jet skis on the upper deck's forward section.

Accommodations comprise two owner's cabins on the main and upper decks, with an adjoining single cabin on the latter. Four staterooms are situated on the lower deck, while the crew quarters can accommodate a team of six.

The explorer yacht is propelled by twin Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines, delivering a top speed of 14 knots and a transatlantic range of over 5,000 nautical miles with the help of 64,000-liter fuel tanks. Furthermore, zero-speed stabilizers have been installed to ensure optimal comfort for those onboard.
