Delivered in 2002, Sarah is a 62m motor yacht built by Dutch shipyard Amels. Her interior design and exterior styling comes from the drawing boards of Donald Starkey, while Amels is responsible for her naval architecture.

Key Features

  • Spacious sun deck with spa pool
  • Various alfresco dining areas available
  • Modern, luxurious design by Donald Starkey
  • Main deck full-beam owners suite

Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 11.8m beam and a 3.65m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 1,370 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in mid 2000. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

The exterior design of the 62m Amels motor yacht Sarah is a blend of modern aesthetics and functional elegance. The hull is painted in a unique shade of blue, a tone that lies between royal and deep-sea blue, giving the yacht a distinctive appearance without being overly ostentatious. This choice of color was a result of a recommendation by the designer, Donald Starkey, who convinced the owner to opt for a lighter hue than the usual dark navy.

Sarah’s exterior features a streamlined design, with clean lines and a balanced profile. The forward section of the sun deck is equipped with a spa pool, providing a space for relaxation. Stylish loungers and a bar are strategically placed to offer an ideal spot for leisure, shaded by an awning.

On the deck above, the vista lounge is designed for a more relaxed atmosphere. It features bamboo eaves and rattan paneling, evoking a Balinese beach house feel. A large television screen is set into a gunmetal cabinet, surrounded by smaller screens that offer various channel previews. This entire setup can rotate to face different sections of the room.

The sun deck is extensive, with a central structure housing internal stairs and technical services. The aft section of the sun deck includes a horseshoe-shaped bar and a curved settee along the rail. Additionally, the deck houses a mandatory rescue boat with its own crane, complying with MCA safety regulations.

Sarah is also equipped with advanced stabilizers to reduce roll both when at anchor and underway. These stabilizers are designed to enhance comfort by countering the yacht’s rolling motions.

Interior Design

The interior design of the yacht Sarah, developed by the London-based designer Donald Starkey, is characterized by a modern aesthetic that emphasizes comfort without being ostentatious. The yacht features an extensive use of high-quality natural materials such as mahogany, marble, onyx, and granite, providing a refined yet understated environment.

The main saloon is designed for both relaxation and formal gatherings. It includes inward-facing sofas and individual armchairs arranged in a square around a mahogany-framed coffee table. A large-screen television is concealed within a cabinet and can be raised into view when needed. The dining area, adjacent to the main saloon, features a 14-place dining table inlaid with a double-ended 'lamp' motif, which recurs in various parts of the yacht. This area is set on a large oval carpet with a matching border design.

For more casual settings, the vista lounge on the deck above offers a relaxed atmosphere. Decorated in the style of a Balinese beach house, it includes bamboo eaves, rattan paneling, and a circular card table. This lounge also has a bar and multiple seating arrangements. A notable feature is the large television screen set into a gunmetal cabinet, accompanied by smaller screens that display a selection of available channels. The cabinet can rotate to face different sections of the room. Additional amenities include gauze screens and wooden venetian blinds for light control, as well as a dance floor hidden beneath a portion of the carpet.

The main hallway is another focal point, featuring radiating panels of intricately figured stone flooring that give an impression of texture despite being smooth to the touch. This hallway provides access to various parts of the yacht, including the owner's suite.

Throughout Sarah, each bathroom is unique, panelled in different types of marble, onyx, or granite, showcasing some of the most striking stone effects seen aboard a yacht. The powder room on the main deck further exemplifies the use of these luxurious materials.

Accommodation

Sarah offers accommodation for up to 18 guests. The owner’s suite is located forward on the main deck. This full-beam suite is designed with flexibility and privacy in mind. In addition to the owner's suite, there are two additional en suite cabins within the private area. These cabins feature double beds that can be folded into the wall when not required. The starboard-side cabin can be converted into an office, while the port-side cabin can function as a gymnasium, complete with a fold-away treadmill.

On the upper deck, Sarah features two VIP guest staterooms. These rooms boast large rectangular windows that provide excellent views and natural light. Each VIP stateroom includes a luxurious en suite bathroom with full-sized tubs, beautifully panelled in different types of marble.

The lower deck houses four additional guest staterooms, arranged in a more conventional layout. Each of these staterooms is en suite and designed to offer maximum comfort. The staterooms are accessible from a central lobby, which also connects to the crew quarters and the main entrance hall via a grand spiral staircase.

Sarah is operated by a full-time crew of 22, ensuring that all aspects of the yacht's operation and guest services are handled with the utmost professionalism. The crew quarters are strategically located to facilitate efficient service and operational functionality.
