Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9m beam and a 3.2m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 609 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in early 1998. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

The exterior design of the Seahorse features a raked bow that enhances its navigational abilities and contributes to its sleek profile. The deck is constructed from durable teak, providing a reliable and hard-wearing surface for outdoor activities. The yacht's hull is painted white, matching the superstructure and creating a cohesive and clean appearance. The boot top and antifoul areas are colored black, offering a sharp contrast to the white hull and superstructure, and ensuring the yacht maintains a professional and refined look.

Seahorse's main deck is connected to the full walk-round decks on the bridge level by two sets of exterior stairs, located fore and aft on the port side. The foredeck is accessible via a walkway that descends over the superstructure from the Portuguese bridge, creating a practical working arrangement for the deck crew.

The superstructure is curved and topped by a sizable sun deck, which is partially shaded by an attractive radar arch and mast. This design results in a yacht that combines functionality and grace. A key feature is the storage of tenders, which are positioned on the foredeck when cruising sheltered waters and moved to the stern for better protection during ocean crossings. This arrangement allows three prime deck areas, all laid with teak, to be fully utilized by the owner and guests.

The highest deck, the sun deck, includes a spa pool built into the back of a C-shaped settee. Aft of the mast, there are loungers designed for sunbathing.

Interior Design

The interior design of the yacht Seahorse is characterized by a blend of neutral tones and practical layouts, ensuring both comfort and functionality. The main saloon, located on the main deck, serves a dual purpose as a sitting and dining area. Guests can relax in a setting that combines formal and casual elements. The room is decorated with neutral-toned fabrics set against a background of natural oak, crisply carved to enhance the aesthetic.

Forward of the main saloon is the formal dining area, separated by two low buffet tops. This area is designed for formal dining experiences, ensuring guests can enjoy meals in a well-defined space. The upper deck includes a bar, a television, and casual seating, providing a comfortable area for guests to unwind after dinner.

The sun lounge on the bridge deck aft combines indoor and outdoor spaces seamlessly. It features a large dining table that can accommodate up to 12 guests, suitable for both formal meals and casual barbecues. The area is designed to mitigate the effects of wind and evening breezes with glazed panels extending well aft and glass doors fitted at the aft end of the side decks. This ensures a pleasant dining experience, regardless of the weather conditions.

The bridge on the upper deck is another key interior space, designed with operational functionality in mind. It includes twin radars, a JRC Standard-C Satcom, a Thrane & Thrane Mini-M, and an array of cellphones. A semicircular guest settee and table are positioned along the aft bulkhead, making the bridge an engaging spot for visitors when the yacht is underway.

Accommodation

Seahorse offers accommodation for up to 12 guests across six cabins. The master suite, located forward on the main deck, features an open-plan layout with a sitting area, a paneled dressing room, and an en suite bathroom. The design ensures privacy through an L-shaped floor plan, and the room benefits from enhanced space, providing a larger bathroom and dressing room.

The yacht includes two double cabins, each with a marble-trimmed en suite bathroom entered through a dressing room. These doubles can be converted into a VIP suite by opening a sliding door, creating a full-beam suite with twin bathrooms and a sitting room. Additionally, two twin-bedded cabins are available, each featuring a writing desk and an en suite shower room.

A fifth cabin, suitable for guests or personal staff, is located off the passageway leading from the lobby into the crew area. This single cabin includes a second pull-down bed and is designed to maximize available space.

Crew accommodation is situated on the lower deck forward of the engine room, where 10 crew members are housed in six twin cabins. The area also features a crew mess, a walk-in refrigerator and freezer, an improved laundry room, and an engineer's office. The captain's cabin is adjacent to the bridge for operational convenience.
