Amels largest superyacht to date in terms of volume, 78m (256ft) full-custom yacht GALINNA, has touched the water for the first time since arriving at its Vlissingen City shipyard in January 2020.
Sporting exteriors by Espen Øino and interiors by Zuretti, superyacht GALINNA boasts a 2,850GT interior, superseding the 2,827GT interior of the 83m (272ft) motor yacht HERE COMES THE SUN.
First announced at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2017, she was launched at Amels facility on the Danube in December 2019 before moving to its Vlissingen City yard last January to begin outfitting.
In private ceremony last week the watertight locks to the dock were opened to see the keel of the first Amels full-custom yacht to be built since the introduction of the Amels Limited Editions concept floated in her dry dock.
Amels and Damen Yachting Project Manager Daan Langezaal explains what this milestone means:
“When we started the pumps and she floated for the first time here in Vlissingen, it really was a moment of great pride” he said. “As a Full Custom, this is a yacht that is very different to the last 40 that we have delivered in terms of design, engineering and project requirements. The success of the project so far comes down to the collaboration we have with the Owner’s team, with us all working to the same goal – to create something magnificent for a happy client. This latest milestone was a major one and I am very much looking forward to the next.”
Whilst details are still sparse, we do know that superyacht GALINNA features an expansive open-top deck, with a large aft pool and wide side decks that can be used as private guest balconies. She also features a number of outdoor relaxation areas, including a large sunbathing area on the foredeck. Accommodation is offered for 14 guests across seven suites.
Superyacht GALINNA is set to be delivered to her Owner in 2022.
The full-custom yacht is a departure from Amel’s popular Limited Editions range, a semi-custom built yacht series that offers a blend of custom and platform build techniques to reduce delivery time to as little as a few months.
