Antonini Navi reveals 56m military-inspired O.P.V. 56

The Offshore Patrol Vessel has a functionalist design and a gross tonnage of under 500GT.

New Italian superyacht builder Antonini Navi has revealed it is working on a military-inspired custom yacht for a European Owner.

The 56m (184ft) Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) features an imposing high bow and clean, paired down lines that give the ship a distinctive look. At 500GRT, the yacht should still offer a good deal of space onboard while setting itself stylistically apart frrom similarly-sized superyachts.

The news comes just 10 months after the Antonini Navi brand was launched by the Antonini Group, with the focus on the construction of custom yachts up to 70m (230ft) in length. With a further two 40m projects in build, this yard looks to have got off to a strong start.

Aldo Manna, Antonini Navi Partner and Sales Director, said: “The market seems to appreciate our production and design flexibility, but most importantly our willingness to build truly custom superyachts made to measure according to our customers’ requirements.

Antonini Navi is a reliable and well-structured business, which means we can offer the market a broad and diversified range of solutions: from the construction of yachts we design ourselves like UP40, now underway, to full custom projects built from scratch, as in the case of this 56-metre O.P.V. “

The yard worked with architect Fulvio De Simoni for the design, with its own technical office dealing with the engineering and preliminary planning work.

The O.P.V. 56 also features a continuous foredeck to accommodate a helipad and an upper deck entirely devoted to the master suite. A multi-functional aft deck is over 150 square meters and can be adapted to cater for any solution and customization.

The Antonini Navi brand was launched by the Antonini Group in April 2020 to focus on for main areas: superyacht construction for third parties, full custom yacht production, refitting and creating their own range of yachts.

The last point has already begun with the creation of the Crossover series of yachts ranging from 30m (98ft) to 50m (164ft) and following a voluminous but flowing design under the waterline and showcasing contemporary lines above. The first two units of the line are already under construction.
