Damen launches first hull in SeaXplorer 77 series

Dutch based Damen Yachting has launched 77m (252') ‘La Datcha’ the first expedition yacht in their SeaXplorer 77 series.

Motor yacht La Datcha is the largest in the SeaXplorer range, she spans six decks and has a range that compares favourably against any explorer yacht for sale - being able to stay on sea for 40 days without a need to return to port. She celebrated her official launch over the weekend at Damen’s Amels yard based in Vlissingen.

Her large range is due to enhanced fuel tanks and state-of-the-art garbage management systems. She has enough storage space for 40 days’ worth of provisions and is built with an ice-breaking IMO Polar Code compliant hull, that gives her the ability to cruise both the Arctic and Antarctic.

The owner has a lot of energy and ideas that went into the design of La Datcha. This yacht is the largest and most capable SeaXplorer so far, custom-built to the owner’s requirements. There is no other yacht like it in the world. We’re very proud to be building her and can’t wait to see La Datcha exploring the world

Motor yacht La Datcha was commissioned by an owner who wanted a vessel with heli-skiing, surfing and scuba diving capabilities and has one of the most extensive ranges of expeditionary equipment you will find on any yacht for sale.

She can house lots and lots of tenders including two helicopters, both of which can be stored in the below-deck hangar, carries her own submersible, fully-equipped diving centre with a decompression chamber and two snow scooters or four Waverunners.
