Heesen has delivered the 50m (164ft) superyacht ELA, formerly known as ‘Project Altea’, to her new owner just three months after she was sold.
The 499GT motor yacht is the third vessel from its 5000 Aluminum FDHF range and the second project built on Heesen’s Nova Plus design and engineering platform, which emphasizes performance and efficiency. The yard claims her top speed of just under 20 knots, frugal fuel consumption and 2.15m (7ft) draft make her the most efficient yacht of her type built in the Netherlands.
Sporting a vertical bow and bold spray rails, motor yacht ELA was only sold in April with the Owner working with interior designer Cristiano Gatto and the Heesen team to personalize the yacht to their taste in the interim period.
"Together with the client, we revisited all the loose furniture, inside and out, selecting new materials for all the upholstery and the key items from Paola Lenti, B&B Italia, Poltrona Frau, and Promemoria," said Cristiano. "But more importantly, we designed bespoke pieces, such as tables, sofas, and lamps, all beautifully crafted by Italian ateliers, who delivered them in record time."
Motor yacht ELA is also the first Heesen yacht to sport a “peak-shaving battery system”. Acting as a ‘virtual generator’ it stores excess generator power as the yacht’s load fluctuates and reduces emissions with its intelligent power management system.
“This, in my opinion, makes the yacht genuinely efficient and more sustainable,” says Peter van der Zanden, head of Design & Development at the shipyard. “At Heesen, we believe in continuous research and constant innovation, we strive to refine our yachts and present the owners with solutions that are at the forefront of technology, to improve efficiency and enhance the on-board experience.”
Motor yacht ELA features exteriors from Omega Architects and naval architecture from Van Oossanen and accommodates 12 guests in six staterooms. She is now expected to spend the summer cruising in the Mediterranean.
Motor yacht ELA is the third yacht delivered by Heesen this year after 55m (180.4ft) motor yacht MOSKITO and 50m (164ft) motor yacht ARKADIA. The Dutch builder will be hoping motor yacht ELA can match the success of her two predecessors in its 5000 Aluminum FDHF line, motor yacht ERICA and motor yacht HOME, which picked up five award wins and three nominations between them.
Combining considerable pedigree with a short delivery time, thanks to pre-defined hull shapes, Heesen is one of the world’s leading superyacht constructors.
