Lurssen has redelivered superyacht KAOS (formerly JUBILEE) to her Owners, following the shipyard’s largest-ever refit project, which began in March 2019.
The superyacht was originally constructed by Oceanco and delivered to her Owner in 2017 as JUBILEE. As the largest Dutch-built yacht ever launched, she enjoyed universal acclaim but, in sad circumstances, a matter of months later the Owner's estate was forced to place the yacht on the brokerage market.
This spectacular vessel quickly found a new Owner, however, becoming the biggest and most notable yacht purchase of 2018 before entering Lurssen's refit yard.
Rumoured to be renamed SECRET III in July 2020, her true moniker KAOS was announced that September. Now launched, exact details on the refit are still scarce. The overall exterior design looks almost unchanged, with that striking Azure superstructure rightfully retained.
What we do know is that this custom superyacht has had significant modifications made to the main and bridge deck, with works designed by Sam Sorgiovanni, who penned the original yacht’s interior.
A massive 1,500 sq. m (16,000 sq. ft) of the interior has also been refitted, this time penned by Reymond Langton Design, the studio both redesigning existing spaces and created entirely new ones.
“We are very satisfied that we achieved what we set out to do,” comments York Ilgner, the director of Lurssen Yacht Refit. “It was a complex refit that was challenging at times, but it has been very successful.”
While the details of superyacht KAOS' refit are still wrapped in secrecy we do know the original yacht's specification, which included sixteen cabins accommodating 31 guests with quarters for 46 crew. Other features included a garage for a Bentley car, a helipad, outdoor cinema, vast beach club with a gym, Turkish bath and, fantastically, an aquarium.
It was a complex refit that was challenging at times, but it has been very successful.

The undertaking was the largest of its kind for Lurssen, which owns eight shipyards in north Germany and has the manpower of 2,800 people, including 700 engineers and naval architects. At the busiest moments, 150 employees were working on motor yacht KAOS at one time.
The delivery comes just days after Lurssen 141m (464ft) mega yacht NORD was handed to her Owner, five years after first being announced.

Worlds Largest Yachts
The delivery of superyacht KAOS comes just days after Lurssen 141m (464ft) mega yacht NORD was handed to her Owner, five years after first being announced.
Gross tonnage (GT) measures the total internal volume of a yacht, including all living areas and storage spaces. Nord and Kaos differ significantly in size, both in overall length and GT. Nord, with a GT of 10,154, offers more than twice the usable space of Kaos, whose GT is 4,523—equivalent to about 280 additional shipping containers. YachtBuyer has introduced the YB100, a more refined system for ranking the world's largest yachts. In these rankings, motor yacht Kaos, ranked 54th in the YB100, drops six places from her standing in the Top 100.
