OPERA: Lurssen's Superyacht Embarks on Sea Trials

Leaving the Lürssen facility in Brehman, Germany, on Tuesday 23 November 2022, OPERA has begun sea trials in the North Sea.

Now one of the world's biggest yachts, OPERA was launched in September 2022 and still largely remains shrouded in mystery.

The sixth-largest superyacht to emerge from the German shipyard, the 146m (479ft) full custom yacht still leaves extensive details to the imagination, however, it has been disclosed that she features design collaboration on interiors and exteriors from the British studio Terrence Disdale Design.

Constructed with a steel hull and an aluminium superstructure, the gross tonnage of OPERA is expected to be around 12,000, complete with four decks, two helipads situated on the bow and aft deck, plus what looks like an extensive beach club.

Other notable key features around the exteriors include two swimming pools on the aft main deck and sun deck, plus fold-down balconies.

Featuring a 20m (65.6ft) beam and advocating a top speed of 22 knots, OPERA proposes a capacity of up to 36 guests in 18 cabins plus a crew of 50.

Formerly known as Project Sassi, OPERA is not currently listed for sale, however, if you are on the market to create your own yacht, read our complete guide on how to build a custom yacht. Alternatively, find a yacht with a shorter turnaround by viewing all new and used yachts for sale.
