Prestige unveils new M-Line range of power catamarans

The French yard officially introduced the new line in an online reveal today, with the first model, the M48 set for its worldwide premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival later this year.

French builder Prestige has unveiled its new M-Line range of yachts, a range of cruising multihull yachts embodying what it calls the “ultimate expression” of Prestige DNA.

The yard showcased the new line and the first model from the line, the 15m (49ft) M48, in an online premiere headed by Prestige General Director Erwin Bamps, alongside Power and Motor Yacht Product Director Erik Stromberg and Product Marketing Manager Rosalie Le Gall.

Erwin Bamps revealed the inspiration for the new line was a series of conversations Prestige had with its own clients when it became increasingly obvious that owners were happy to compromise on speed for space onboard and closer connectivity to the water.

The yard set about creating a new powercat line based around three principles: outstanding space, high efficiency and stability. The first model from the line, the 15m (49ft) M48, brings together those principles in a design by long-time Prestige collaborator Garroni Design that looks very much like a traditional motor yacht and still retains classic Prestige styling.

During the online premiere, Prestige revealed more details about the M48. At 20 square meters (215 sq. ft) Prestige claims its flybridge alone is comparable to one you might get on a 60m (197ft) monohull yacht, whilst its main deck is based around a social design with fluid circulation and deep and wide side decks. The cockpit connects seamlessly to the main salon, which has plenty of light and, in keeping with Prestige’s style, the galley is in the center of the living space.

The lower deck is “where the innovation is” according to Product Marketing Manager Rosalie Le Gall. The Owner’s space is located forward and occupies the full beam, whilst two symmetric guest cabins have encompassing sea views. The model is also available in a four-cabin layout.

The M48 will be powered by Volvo D4 320hp engines, with a 20 knot top speed and a cruising speed of 8 to 18 knots, and a 600nm range at 8 knots. Erik Stromberg, the Product Director, was keen to point out that the hull, designed by Philippe Briand, is not a planing hull but can operate at a variety of speeds.

Yachts at Cannes Yachting Festival
The M48 is set to be amongst the yachts making its debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival later this year.

The new model will undertake its sea trials in June in the South of France, and will then make its world debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September, before having its American debut the following month at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

More details on the new M-Line and other models are expected to follow in the coming months, with Prestige only revealing the next model in the line will be bigger.

The M-Line will join the F-Line, S-Line and X-Line in the Prestige fleet that is notable for its large living spaces, subtle contemporary styling and private layouts. For more details you can view all Prestige yachts for sale.
