Silent Yachts unveils solar electric catamaran Silent 60

Building on the success of the Silent 55, Austrian shipyard Silent Yachts is now introducing the 17.99m Silent 60.

With half a dozen units already on the books, the Silent 60 continues the trend of solar-electric power from the previous model but offers more volume and comfort for guests.

Design and engineering for the Silent 60 have both been executed by the managing director of Albatross Marine Design, Albert Nazarov.

Signature long stripes along the hull plus a large expanse of glazing around the exterior are captivating but it's the additional five feet which truly enhances the new model's appeal.

Now with more space for socialising on board, the overall catamaran experience is ideal for long journeys, with the new model able to cruise up to 100 miles per day for weeks at a time.

The SILENT 60 is a true world cruiser. We updated our most popular model and now she resembles the flagship SILENT 80.

A longer waterline and reverse bow are notable features of the new high-performance hull, which has been enhanced with CFD study. Her shorter draft of just below one metre also opens up opportunities to explore more destinations with shallower shorelines, making the Caribbean and South East Asia prime cruising locations.

Transportation around new regions is again more feasible with the Silent 60, with storage allowing an increase from a 3.3 to 4-metre tender.

In addition to the expansion of volume onboard, the Silent 60 is promising unlimited range with silent electric propulsion. A total of 42 solar panels for 17kWp each emphasises the shipyard's claims that she is self-sufficient and travels with virtually no noise and minimal vibrations.

Customisable flexibility is a key feature for the Silent 60, with a range of layouts available. Configurations include a series of layouts with three to six staterooms, plus up to six bathrooms which all include separate showers.

All layouts offer a spacious main salon plus a generous flybridge complete with a helm station. Seating areas and sunbeds are also integrated across the exterior.

The first Silent 60 hull is currently on schedule and is due to be launched in summer 2020.
