Ahead of the world’s largest sportsfisher yacht SPECIAL ONE making her debut at the Monaco Yacht Show 2024, Royal Huisman has revealed a hidden secret.
According to designer Vripack, the 52m superyacht will run on hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), reducing harmful CO2 emissions by over 90%. HVO100, a hydrotreated vegetable oil, is made from food industry waste and leftovers and is fully renewable and traceable from production to end use. The significant reduction in emissions will also keep engine components such as filters and injectors cleaner, resulting in less maintenance over the motor yachts' life.
Sportsfisher SPECIAL ONE is an Alustar aluminum motor yacht, featuring six decks of functional luxury and advanced propulsion technology that allows it to surpass 30 knots.
We applied our most radical naval architecture ever on this hull, resulting in [dramatically] lower resistance and, consequently, reduced fuel consumption. However, we were also very aware that no matter what, the twin V20 MAN 4500kW drive train – which propels this yacht to over 32 knots – and her twin Zenoro 180kW generators will always burn a substantial amount of fuel. We knew of this ‘new fuel’ and started our research."
