Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 13.5m beam and a 3.85m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 2,157 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Exterior Design

The exterior design of Altair is purposeful and efficient. The yacht's voluminous, bulbous-bowed hull ensures stability and optimal performance at sea. The maximum beam of 13.5 meters is paired with a sleek aluminum superstructure, providing a balanced profile. The deck is crafted from high-quality teak, known for its durability and resistance to harsh marine conditions. The hull is painted grey, providing a sleek and modern appearance, while the superstructure is finished in a contrasting white, creating a clean and classic look. The boot top and below the waterline areas are painted red, adding a touch of distinctiveness to the overall design.

Forward of the owner's suite, there is a spa pool area, surrounded by sunbathing cushions, a bar, seating area, and shower. This space is accessible to guests and is overlooked by the guest sun deck above. The uppermost level, the sun deck, is divided into three sections. It includes a fitness area, a U-shaped seating area, and space for sun loungers. Practical features such as a tender, crane, and satellite television domes are also located here.

The main deck offers a shaded aft section for alfresco dining, complemented by a beach club located just beneath, extending out to sea over the open stern door. Forward through double doors is the main deck saloon, featuring elm-paneled walls and inbuilt cabinetry.

Interior Design

The main deck saloon is designed with highly figured elm-paneled walls, with mahogany banded pillars adding visual interest. The central seating area includes pale upholstered sofas and armchairs, positioned on a beige carpet peninsula that contrasts with the oak floor. Amenities in this area include a bar, a grand piano, and an audio-visual entertainment system.

The dining room on the main deck features a 14-seater table beneath a mirrored ceiling with pinpoint lights. Frosted glass doors lead to the galley and the entrance lobby, facilitating easy access and service.

The sky lounge on the upper deck serves as a social and entertainment hub. The central seating area, flanked by wide windows, includes further sofas and a full-service bar. Additional amenities include a grand piano, a card table, and a plasma-screen television that hinges down from the ceiling. A bookshelf-lined office, which can be closed off for privacy, provides a quiet space for business needs.

The guest passageway on the main deck is designed with a central corridor leading to the staterooms, each door decorated with elm veneer and containing a sample of decorative burl. The passageway features subtle changes in decorative finish and width to create an engaging visual flow.

In terms of materials, the yacht extensively uses pale Canadian elm for the lift interior and elm-paneled passageways. The dramatic red travertine exterior of the lift shaft is a standout feature, complemented by mirrored ceilings in the lobbies at each level. The interior decor combines dark gloss-varnished mahogany furniture with elm walls, beige and cream carpets, and gold brocade upholstery. Marble-topped bedside tables and stone-finished television cabinets repeat the stone theme seen throughout the yacht.

The bathroom design focuses on functionality and aesthetics, using striated honey onyx, green malachite, white Thassos marble, and gold fittings set with tiger's-eye. The bath offers both jets and bubbles, while the adjacent shower doubles as a steam room. Twin washbasins are set in a crafted countertop, with a separate compartment for the head, which includes an advanced washing system.

Accommodation

Altair can accommodate up to 14 guests across its well-appointed staterooms. The yacht features six spacious staterooms on the main deck, including two doubles and four twins, each equipped with private en-suite facilities. The doubles are particularly expansive, offering ample space and comfort. The twin staterooms, while slightly smaller due to the yacht's beam, are equally well-finished. Two additional single staterooms are located amidships on the lower deck, adjoined by a shared shower room.

The owner's suite is self-contained and situated on the highest enclosed deck, ensuring complete privacy. This suite features a large bedroom with panoramic windows and floor-to-ceiling doors that open to a private aft deck. The room is furnished with dark mahogany and warm elm, providing a serene and elegant atmosphere. The suite also includes a dressing room, bathroom with luxurious fittings, and a private deck area forward, complete with the yacht's only spa pool.

The crew's quarters are designed to ensure maximum efficiency and comfort, housing a total of 22 crew members. The lower deck features 12 crew cabins, including eight twin bunk cabins and four single officer cabins. The captain's double cabin is located on the bridge deck, adjacent to the officer's mess. The crew areas are connected by a staircase that allows discreet movement throughout the vessel, ensuring seamless service.
