Cantiere delle Marche has revealed its first American-owned explorer yacht, 32.5m (107ft) UPTIGHT, has been successfully launched.
The Darwin 106 model was the yard’s first sale to the US market when it was announced in May 2019. Its Owner is a keen fisherman who wants a “reliable and comfortable explorer yacht to enjoy months-long fishing expeditions in remote and uncontaminated seas”. UPTIGHT will sit alongside a few fisherman yachts the family already owns.
“We knew that our explorers perfectly fitted with American Owners’ requirements as for volumes, spaces, robustness, long-range, technical reliability, functionality, no-nonsense approach and, last but not least, customer care and after-sale service. It has taken us a few years to penetrate the American market but we made it, eventually, as scheduled,” says Vasco Buonpensiere, co-founder and Sales & Marketing Director at CdM.
The 255GT yacht is based on the naval platform of the Darwin 102 and designed, engineered and modified by Sergio Cutolo/Hydro Tec to match her Owner’s requests.
These requests include a specifically designed layout with a ‘country kitchen’ and, instead of a skylounge, the Upper Deck features a panoramic Owner's Stateroom.
The Owner’s love of fishing is reflected in a fishing cockpit fitted as a sportfisherman. The stern platform has been transformed into an enclosed cockpit with a bulwark, where fishing can be carried out in a ‘stand up’ position. Screwless rod holders have also been placed on the large teak cap rail around the cockpit.
The interior layout comes courtesy of Francesco Guida and features a large main salon with lounging and dining areas and a galley located to port side. Five guest cabins, made up of two doubles, a large VIP and two twins are on the Lower Deck, whilst the Owner’s stateroom opens onto the Upper Deck stern terrace. There is also a large sundeck.
The displacement hull is fitted with twin Caterpillar C18 Acert 500kW engines to give a top speed of 13 knots. UPTIGHT will have a range of over 4,700nm at 9.5 knots.
The yard has confirmed the Owner is looking to put the extensive range to the test upon her delivery with expeditions to Alaska and other far-flung destinations already planned.
Founded in 2010, Cantiere delle Marche has established a reputation as one of the leading builders of explorer yachts in the world and builds elegant expedition vessels from its Ancona-based yard. According to YachtBuyer intelligence it has four explorer yachts scheduled for delivery in 2022. It announced just a few days ago that it had sold the first unit of its new semi-custom EXP line.
