Cantiere delle Marche launches 43m explorer yacht ACALA

The explorer yacht is being built for a repeat CdM customer, with the yard saying it has the most detailed and comprehensive spec of any yacht it has built.

Italian yard Cantiere delle Marche (CdM) has launched its 43m (141ft) full-custom yacht ACALA, calling it its most “detailed and comprehensive” explorer yacht yet.

The 490GT yacht has been commissioned by an experienced yachtsman and a repeat client for CdM. Indeed this new yacht replaces a previous expedition yacht ACALA, a 31.09m (102ft) Darwin 102 built by CdM in 2015.

“I am delighted and proud with this milestone launch. The work on technical specifications has been extremely detailed and it lasted almost 12 months to achieve a double result: to build a 43-metre yacht with the most detailed and comprehensive specs we have ever drawn up and to proceed with no need of major modifications as construction progressed,” Vasco Buonpensiere, CdM’s co-founder and Sales & Marketing Director, says. “In the light of this approach and procedures, within the team we joke around saying that we have built the smallest 80-metre yacht ever!” he adds.

In common with all explorer yachts built by the yard explorer yacht ACALA features a thick and robust steel hull and light aluminum superstructure. However, the superyacht does signal a new collaboration, with CdM working with Italian-based designer and naval architect Horacio Bosso for the first time, on ACALA’s eye-catching exteriors.

With a raked bow and compact superstructure, ACALA’s signature features are large main deck windows whose mullions seem not to join the superstructure. Guest areas are spread over three decks and a sun deck, and ACALA can accommodate 12 guests in six suites. The Owner’s suite and three large VIP suites are on the main deck, with two twin cabins located on the lower deck.

Other highlights include an intimate salon on the main deck, a large panoramic skylounge on the upper deck and a large cockpit with plenty of relaxation areas and a swimming pool. The large sun deck is another social hub with al fresco dining, a bar and a second swimming pool. Interior design is from Mexican architect Simon Hamui.

The full displacement naval architecture comes from Sergio Cutolo/Hydro Tec, and twin Caterpillar C32 Acert engines give ACALA a range in excess of 5,000nm at 10 knots and a top speed of 14 knots.

Cantiere delle Marche is one of the leading builders of explorer yachts in the world and recently confirmed its order book includes 15 new builds. It called 2021 its most memorable year since it was founded in 2010 and revealed its production had doubled compared to 2019. At the start of the month it launched 32.5m (107ft) UPTIGHT, its first American-owned explorer yacht.
