Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9.6m beam and a 2.7m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 637 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in mid 2006. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

Inception exhibits a robust and imposing appearance, thanks to its third deck and extensive sun deck. The forward-leaning pilothouse contributes to its serious and professional look, while the reverse sheer and pelican-beak bow are design elements reminiscent of other Frank Laupman designs.

One notable feature is the clamshell forward of the wheelhouse, which provides a private relaxation area. The sheerline extends right to the bow, concealing the foredeck and anchoring equipment behind high bulwarks. This design choice not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also serves a functional purpose by keeping solid water off the foredeck during adverse weather conditions.

Inception is designed with a focus on both performance and usability. The yacht's high bulwark and sheerline improve seaworthiness, as demonstrated during its trans-Atlantic crossing. The aft garage is spacious enough to store a 23ft tender and two Seadoos, while additional watercraft are stored on the foredeck. The absence of tender cranes is addressed by using a winching system over rollers fitted to the aft platform, which lowers beyond the horizontal to become a sloping beach. This "teaky beach" is a central activity area, facilitating easy launching and boarding of boats and water toys.

The sun deck is cleverly planned, featuring a dining table shaded by the mast arch, a bar with unobstructed views over the bow, and a large oval spa pool and sunpads for sunbathing. A concealed stairway on the port side allows access to the sun deck without passing through the owner's private area.

Interior Design

The interior design of the yacht Inception, crafted by Ausberg Interiors, is a fresh, modern take on the art deco movement. It emphasizes good proportions, indirect lighting, and attention to detail without the traditional fey statuettes or entwining greenery typical of 1930s interiors.

The primary material used is Macassar ebony. The patterns are subtle and subdued with a silky finish, except in specific places like the high-gloss dining room table. Steel is also a feature material, used in its raw, hot-rolled state with a silicone-based clear varnish to preserve its silvery gleam. This material is prominently featured in the spiral staircase and various other accents throughout the interior.

The main deck's open-plan space incorporates a sociable seating area, a bar, and a formal dining room. The seating area is complemented by a high-end entertainment system with a big screen offering a range of TV shows, videos, games, and music. This entertainment system is also available in the cabins, albeit on a smaller scale.

The helm, designed with a forward-leaning "trawler" style, conveys a serious and professional look. It includes all necessary navigational equipment and provides unobstructed views for safe and efficient navigation.

Accommodation

The owner’s suite occupies the entire upper deck aft of the stairway lobby. This expansive suite includes a private study, walk-in closets, and a chic bathroom with a freestanding tub. The circular stateroom is centered around a revolving double bed that faces full-height windows, providing a 180-degree panoramic view. At night, the bed can be rotated to face a large video screen. The suite also has sliding glass doors that lead to a private deck with a spa pool and seating areas, ensuring complete privacy with closing doors and a dedicated stairway access.

Inception features three unique guest cabins located on the lower deck. Designed for adults, the double cabin is decorated in soothing teal blue with detailed stripes and patterns. The children's cabin is highlighted in pink, orange, and green, and features Moroccan designs. The third cabin can accommodate up to four younger children, with two bunks lowering from the ceiling.

Additionally, Inception includes a vibrant playroom instead of another guest cabin. This playroom is upholstered in bright orange and cerise velour.

A VIP suite is situated forward on the main deck, offering luxurious accommodations similar to the master stateroom. This full-beam suite includes adjoining bathrooms and a unique feature: a wall that hinges down to form a balcony, large enough for a breakfast table.

She is also capable of carrying up to 10 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.
