Design & Construction
Designed around a semi-displacement aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 9m beam and a 2.5m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 458 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in late 2007 with the keel laid under the project name 'Petra'. This was the sixth yacht built on the Heesen 4400 design. Launched in April 2009 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in June 2009.
Exterior Design
The exterior design of Mordan features a raked bow, which contributes to its sleek and aerodynamic profile. The yacht is equipped with teak decking, providing a durable and classic surface for outdoor areas. The hull of Mordan is painted in a distinctive blue, while the superstructure is finished in white, creating a sharp and clean contrast. The boot top is also white, maintaining a cohesive look with the superstructure. Below the waterline, the hull is coated in black, ensuring a practical and polished appearance underwater.
Mordan has three decks plus a sundeck. The lower deck includes a large garage at the stern, capable of accommodating up to three tenders. Above the garage are four guest cabins, each with en-suite bathrooms. The crew quarters are situated forward of the guest cabins, providing comfortable living spaces for the staff.
The flying bridge is mostly open, partially covered by a superstructure housing radio, radar, and satellite aerials. It includes a circular Jacuzzi, sunbathing area, bar cabinet, settees, coffee tables, and an external steering position for easy maneuverability in confined waters. The forward part of the flying bridge has additional sunbathing areas and a sky lounge, ensuring separation between technical and guest areas. There is also a docking station and an additional tender at the stern end.
Interior Design
The interior design of the Mordan reflects a blend of functionality and understated elegance. The materials used throughout the yacht are carefully selected for durability and aesthetic appeal, with a focus on aluminum for its lightweight and robust properties.
In the galley, the design prioritizes efficiency and practicality. High-grade stainless steel countertops and appliances ensure longevity and easy maintenance. The layout is optimized for seamless workflow, with ample storage space and modern cooking facilities that cater to both professional chefs and casual meal preparations. Separate passageways for the crew enhance operational efficiency and maintain privacy for guests.
The helm on the upper deck is equipped with state-of-the-art navigation and control systems. The bridge offers excellent visibility and is furnished with ergonomic seating and high-quality instrumentation panels, ensuring that all operational controls are within easy reach. This forward-thinking design supports both safety and ease of vessel management.
The main saloon offers a versatile space for relaxation and socializing. The circular-shaped room features large, openable windows that connect the interior to the external lounge area, creating a flexible environment that can adapt to various weather conditions. Furnishings include comfortable settees and functional coffee tables, arranged to facilitate conversation and movement.
Adjacent to the main saloon, the dining room area provides a formal yet welcoming setting for meals. The space is designed with practicality in mind, featuring a large dining table and chairs that offer comfort without excessive embellishment. The proximity to the galley ensures efficient service.
On the upper deck, the internal lounge area maintains a similar circular design with sliding glass panels, allowing for an open-air experience or a more enclosed, intimate setting. This lounge is equipped with a settee, a bar cabinet, and a daytime toilet, all illuminated by ample natural light from the surrounding large windows.
Accommodation
Mordan can host a total of ten guests across five cabins. Mordan features four guest cabins located on the lower deck. These include two double cabins and two twin cabins, each equipped with en-suite bathrooms. This arrangement ensures that all guests have private spaces to retreat and relax in during their stay.
The owner's suite is situated on the main deck and includes a range of amenities designed for convenience and comfort. The suite features an office, a stateroom with broad side windows, a lounge area with a settee and dressing table, as well as a large en-suite bathroom and changing room. This comprehensive layout provides a spacious and private environment for the yacht's owner.
Crew quarters are also located on the lower deck, forward of the guest cabins. Additionally, the captain's cabin is situated on the upper deck, directly linked to the bridge, allowing for efficient operation and oversight of the yacht.
